DS Clayworks was founded by Maui-based ceramics designer Dražena Stroj. In her early twenties Dražena first moved from Slovenia to Andalusia, Spain, where local ceramic artisans ignited her affection for pottery. After moving to Hawaii, she took on clay as her primary creative medium.
Almost twenty years of throwing and shaping clay and refining her techniques taught her that there are no short cuts to becoming an accomplished potter.
She creates in her art studio on the rural cliffs of West Maui, a mystical place surrounded by beautiful nature that is her eternal inspiration to shape the clay.
Her style is defined by simplicity and minimalism and her products express nature in all its forms. She loves creating functional artwork that brings joy to everyday life.
